Bring more beauty into your garden with a colorful mosaic garden pole. In this class you will design and create your own 30” pole. No experience needed, just a desire for creative fun! You will learn how to cut and prepare the pole, which adhesives to use, and how to complete it with the proper grout. Join us for some mosaic play and take home your beautiful new garden addition. This project can be done easily with the precut tiles that will be provided. There is always the opportunity to make it more challenging by cutting/nipping tiles to add some design elements like mosaic stars, eyes, words or even your street address, etc.
Choose your adventure:
Option 1: Flat Top with Knob Mosaic Garden Pole
Option 2: Solar Light Mosaic Garden Pole
- If you would like to bring your own materials such as stained glass, please contact me before camp so we can discuss it. I can reduce the materials cost to cover just the substrate, adhesive and grout.
Student supply list:
- Apron to protect your clothes (optional)
- As always, this is your class. Maybe you have a glass globe or another object that you want to place on top, or other great ideas. I welcome you to contact me before camp and discuss any options you wish.
Sherry Tobin

Bay Area Artist Sherry Tobin Haney is a mixed media mosaic artist who loves to incorporate non-traditional items into her creations. She began creating mosaics over 25 years ago as a form of coping with her day job at the Postal Service. For the last 10 years she has been a part of the art collective at Mare Island Art Studios on Mare Island in Vallejo California.
Sherry finds art to be the best form of therapy. What could be better than taking broken and discarded things and giving them a new life by making art? Some of the things she likes to use are salt and pepper shakers, plates, cups, metal platters, jello molds, and cabinet knobs. She finds it to be a satisfying challenge to spot the right discards for a new unique piece. She often finds pieces of broken china that people have left at her studio door. Her happy place is when she can elevate broken things to creations of joy and whimsy.
