Glass Beads by Harlan

Learn how to make glass beads by the ancient lampwound method. We work on oxygen-propane torches, and use italian glass cane. Topics covered include: basic shape formation - donut, barrel, square, and tabular; making and using stringer and latticino; design techniques including dotting, raking, plunging, and "pinwheeling"; clear casing; color and design theory, practical aspects of glass science, and flamework safety.

A lover of glass since age three, Harlan has taught glass bead making at City of Oakland Studio One since 2000. As a flameworker he has been active as a Bay Area Arts and Craft show exhibitor over the past eight years.
