Morning Excercises with Karen LeGault

Wake up and begin your day with a series of meditative excercises designed to stretch and strengthen your body increase circulation and build energy. Qi Gong (Chi Kung) means "energy skills." We work with the mind and the breath, infusing your body with a deeper experience. Tai Chi translates as "the supreme ultimate void." Tai Chi excercises are designed to help "open up" the energy pathways of your body and get the "chi"and blood flowing. Gradually through practice and instruction we learn to relax the muscles and tendons, to move from a grounded center without straining, into a place where body mind and spirit harmonize in motion.

Karen LeGault has been practicing Tai Chi Chuan since 1981, apprentice taught for six years as a senior student and began teaching in 1989. She studied with Wei Tsuei over a 16 year period and then push hands with Guo An Feng intensively for 3 years. Interested in the health and healing of the spirit as well as the body, she studied Chinese Herbology with the Institute of Chinese Herbology in Oakland (1989 to 1990) and is a practicing intuitive counselor since 1985, (graduate of the Berkeley Psychic Institute) looking at and working with energy with individuals concerning all aspects of their lives.

She has taught privately and in institutions, having logged over 8,000 hours of instruction time. A partial list of places taught -

"The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science" 1994 - 2000
"Hacienda de las Flores" 1991 - 1996
"Club at the Claremont" 2003 - 2006
"Danspace" - private classes - 1991 to 2004

She currently gives private lessons and classes in her back yard in Oakland. She also has designed a series of excercises based on Tai Chi for older adults in a skilled nursing facility.
