I had made wonderful trips to Africa, many to Europe, South America and the South Pacific. None however compared to having a wonderful week doing art, enjoying the outdoors and getting the greatest food all prepared for you.

What I like about Art Camp:
...diversity of choices in art endeavors, nice people - staff and campers - highly qualified teachers.
The teachers are knowledgeable and very supportive. I like the opportunity to try out other mediums. Great place to explore many artistic endeavors.
I really enjoyed the classes but also the afternoon workshops as a way to sample other activities.
...the chance to experience the multiple art experiences
I like the schedule of classes and workshops but with lots of time for sitting in the woods and by the river.
Art! Fun people Collaborative process. Good food! Not having to shop, cook or clean up!
Comaraderie, seriousness about art, teachers generosity, beautiful setting, Rivka's massage.
The ability to have one complete week to focus on art in a beautiful surrounding.
It was a great chance to be around like-minded artistic people. I loved the opportunity to focus on something I've been wanting to do for a long time.
The people, the atmosphere, the camp, Tai Chi
Getting to interact with other arts-loving folks in a beautiful setting and spending time in nature and the swimming hole.
Class topics are great and varied
Meditative time to concentrate on art. Level of instructors - all are amazing artists and all seem to enjoy teaching.
LinksFeather River Art Camp is managed as a private enterprise under the name of Art Camps. Working in cooperation with Camps-in-Common, a management group for the City of Oakland Feather River Camp, the camp facilities are subleased on a contractual basis. The relationship has been mutually beneficial.
By and for artists and creative explorers, Art Camp for adults at the Oakland Feather River Camp has been an annual event since 1991. The 20-year success of the camp can be attributed to the talented group of recognized arts professionals who teach the classes and their dedication to making Art Camp an uplifting, memorable, sharing, learning experience for all who participate.
Whether you are a beginner or master artist, Art Camp clearly provides the opportunity for a surge of creative energy to enlighten the rest of your year.
The driving force of spirit and energy that keeps instructors and students coming back is Karen LeGault, director and implementer of Art Camp since 2003. Karen is a longtime artist and instructor who began teaching at the camp in 1999 and quickly fell under the spell of the spiritual and natural beauty of the place. At that time the Art Camp was under the direction of Judy Porter, former Director of the Cultural Arts Department in Oakland, who supervised the Art Camp for City of Oakland Parks and Recreation.
Art Camp has a new marketing assistant this year as Donna Hodge assumes the duties of Karen's long time assistant Joyce Appelbaum, who served as marketing assistant from 2004 to 2010. Joyce's wisdom, advice and congenial energy contributed appreciably to the development and success of Art Camp.
Gratitude is also extended to our many return campers who promote the excitement and joy of Art Camp to their friends, families and associates. We hope you will join us in this wonderful week of creativity, nature and enjoyment!
